Measures for livestock industry: Meeting on development of livestock sector in Rakhine

A work coordination meeting for the development of livestock sector in Rakhine State was held at the state government office on 12th July.

The meeting took place with the attendance of Chairman of Rakhine State Natural Disaster Management Committee and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, Deputy Ministers, State Ministers, departmental officials and livestock breeders, and Chairmen of District Administration Committee.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said that in the aftermath of cyclone MOCHA, Head of State arrived in Rakhine State and gave guidance on rehabilitation works including sufficient food, providing shelters, education and healthcare sectors.

The Chief Minister said that the Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers are making close supervisions to implement the instructions and the rehabilitation tasks have been carried out in Rakhine State with a short period.

He also added that implementations are being made to fulfill the needs for livestock breeders to get quality species and plans are underway to implement resettlement of villages with Emerald Fund for the development of livestock industries in cyclone-affected areas and the State Economic Promotion Fund have been disbursed to the breeders from respective districts and townships.

He stressed the needs on providing technical assistance for the breeders and making discussions for the development of livestock sector.

Then, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi reported on plans to be carried out for livestock sector in the state and officials and attendees discussed undertaking measures and requirements for extended breeding.
