






The 57th kidney transplant was successfully carried out at 500 bed-Specialty Hospital (Yangon) on 6th July. The kidney transplant treatment was suspended during COVID-19 Pandemic and accordance with the guidance of the Ministry of Health and closely supervising of the Department of Medical Services with the cooperation of the related field professor/head of department, in-charge senior physicians and nurses performed 55th kidney transplant on November 2022 and 56th on March 2023 at the hospital.
At the 57th kidney transplant operation, the specialists performed the operation on the two siblings – 27 years old patient and 32 years old donor from Shan State. The operation was started at 9:00 am in the morning and finished at 10:45 am.
The kidney transplant was performed by the working groups including urologists and kidney surgeons led by professor/department head Dr. Kyaw Soe Kyaw, urologists and kidney treatment led by professor Dr. Win Win Hlaing, anaesthetic work group led by Professor Dr. Mu Mu Naing, radiologist work group led by Professor Dr. Aung Cho Tun, blood and blood products supporting work group led by deputy director general Dr. Thida Aung and pathology work group led by Dr. Swe Set and the collaboration of the retired professors, medical superintendent Dr. Aung Lin Aye and hospital management committee members.
Kidney transplant cases are successfully completed under the leadership of local doctors, the patients can receive healthcare services of kidney transplant in local and can also reduce costs.
The 57th kidney transplant operation was observed by Colonel Win Tint, Minister for Yangon Region Security and Border Affairs and concerned official and donated 1.5 million kyats to the patients. Then, they also provided 3 million kyats to the health care personnel.
