The regular immunization coverage has decreased in Myanmar like other nations in 2020 and 2021 as the COVID-19 containment measures have being prioritized during the pandemic period.

Dr Thet Su Mon,Deputy Head,Yangon Region Public Health Dept. said " The health staffs are now collecting the population list of the children under 1 plus aged 3 years to 5 years in the respective townships and districts for immunization. After collecting, we can know the number of children who have not been yet vaccinated and who have not yet in full time. The immunization can prevent measles and diphtheria that can be high mortality rate in children. By doing so, we can reduce the death rate of children under 5."
According to the officer of Yangon Region Public Health Department, vaccination can prevent 13 diseases from children that are the severe tuberculosis, diarrhea, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Hepatitis B, polio, measles and so on. If the infants are born at the hospitals, they can receive vaccination there. If they are not born at the hospitals, they can be vaccinated at the age of 4, 6 and 9 months and 1 and half years old.
