Tourism Industry: To promote local tourism destinations

To promote the community based tourism destinations and natural destinations in Myanmar, Ministry of Hotel and Tourism have formed tourism committees of regions and states, and organized seasonal festivals, local food and handicrafts fairs in Bagan, Mandalay, Innlay and other famous tourists areas.

Myo Myo Thant,Director,Ministry of Hotel& Tourism said "We has been drawn a strategic plan for the recovery of Myanmar’s tourism industry. The plan includes development of local businesses in tourism industry and increase of foreign tourism sector with union level, Nay Pyi Taw council level and private sector level. And we are cooperating with private sector in Visas, health insurance, and related matters for the international tourists. In order to promote Myanmar tourism destinations, there are also advertising through online platforms and participating in international travel exhibitions in cooperation with relevant Myanmar embassies."

After re-operating of international airlines in Myanmar, foreigners were allowed to enter in accordance with COVID-19 rules and regulations and more than 450,000 tourists have arrived from January 2023 to date. Most of the visitors come from China, Thailand, Korea, Japan, India, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and Singapore.
