Cooperative Development: MCRD Union Minister addresses the coordination meeting

A coordination meeting on cooperative work development in first quarter of 2023-2-24 FY was held at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development on 30th June with the attendance of Union Minister U Hla Moe.

In his speech, the Union Minister said green gram cultivation project has been carried out through the State Economic Development Fund, and the Cooperative sector has made its participation in the project to some extent.

During 2022-23 FY, 318 Cooperative Associations were formed in 23 townships of Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions, and the agricultural inputs were provided for over 120,000 acres farmland for boosting per acre yield.

Moreover, 850,000 acres of summer paddy cultivation project, Monsoon paddy cultivation project, and Emerald Green (Cooperative) project are being carried out by the State Economic Development Fund. He urged all to strive for boosting productions and to carry out the tasks in line with the procedures.

The Union Minister also said that emphasizes are being made in Agriculture and livestock breeding tasks and it is necessary to conduct the cattle breeding work systematically.

He also instructed to supervise the Oil mills operated by the Ministry and associations to run functionally, to purchase raw materials, to get oil market, to conduct One Region One Product, and to open the Cooperative shops. He urged all to conduct the development of the cooperative tasks in cooperation with Cooperatives Department and associations.

Next, Deputy Minister U Myint Soe, the Director General of the Cooperative Department and the Chairman of the Central Cooperative Society clarified the progress of the cooperative tasks.

Then, the Directors from Regions/State Cooperatives Departments and chairmen of the Cooperatives associations made all round discussions.
