Religious Occasion: Progress of Maravijaya Buddha Image clarified

A ceremony to clarify the construction progress of Maravijaya Buddha Image, which will the tallest carving Buddha image in sitting posture in the world, was held on Thursday.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing explained that the conveyance of the stone to be carved for the Buddha image commenced on 3rd July 2020. It took 9 times to convey the parts of stone systematically without any damage.

All the stone parts arrived Hsimeekhon Jetty on 18th September, and the further conveyance to Nay Pyi Taw started on 25th January 2021 and it took about 4 months. He emphasized that the establishment of the Buddha Image aims to promote prestige of the nation. All the processes for construction of the Buddha image have been carried out with the guidance of the Sayadaws.

It has been altogether 1,110 days, which is 3 years and 15 days from the process of driving stakes for the construction of the Buddha image. It was followed by screening of documentary video clip of the work progress and the future model of the Maravijaya Buddha image and Buddha Park once it was completed.

Then, the Prime Minister accepted the cash donation made by the attendees. He expressed thanks to the donors for their generous contribution. Then, the Prime Minister and attendees toured round the Buddha Park. A total of 16.177 billion kyats cash donation have been made by 101 donors during the ceremony.
