US Congress Modi speech

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a joint session of the US Congress on Thursday. In his speech, Modi praised the rise of US - India relations on both the official, governmental levels as well as through people to people contacts. Addressing the growing partisanship in Congress, Modi highlighted that whilst a strong "contest of ideas" is needed for any healthy democracy, lawmakers should come together as one when they are speaking for their nation.

He also recalled that countries should respect the United Nations Charter, advocating for peaceful resolution to conflicts and guaranteeing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations.
