Regional Development: NantPalet creek crossing bridge opened in Putao

New NantPalet creek crossing re-inforced concrete bridge was opened in Putao, Kachin State on 19th June. The bridge is 240-ft long and 24-ft wide located on Putao-MansaeKhun-Mansae road.

On the occasion, Kachin State Chief Minister U KhetHtein Nan said this re-inforcedconcrete bridge was constructed at a cost of 1,080 million kyats. He added that by implementing the road network like this, the development gap between rural and urban areas can be reduced and living standard of rural people will also be improved.

He urged local people to maintain roads/bridges and cooperate to promote the agricultural productivity. Then, the head of State Rural Road Development Department clarified salient point of the bridge, and progress of the construction of plain circular road and plans for rural roads in Puta-O district yearly and presented gifts commemorating the ceremony. Next, a town elder expressed words of thanks for the regional development tasks.

Afterwards, the State Chief Minister, State ministers and officials formally opened the bridge and sprinkled scented water on the stone inscription of the bridge. The Chief Minister also presented cash for ethnic cultural troupes and the viewed around the new bridge together with local ethnic people.

Next, the State Chief Minister and party inspected the process of road axis for laying earth and gravel on Sahtilaw(3)-MaliRain road. They also met with locals at NanShalKawt village and observed thriving grape fruit plantations and coordinated the needs with officials.

In the afternoon, the State Chief Minister and party attended launching ceremony of 18-ton rice mill of “Sun” Agriculture and General Cooperative Ltd., in Lon Sut ward in Puta-O. At the event, the State Chief Minister said State government allocated 1.135 billion kyats from State economic promotion fund to Putao district for the development of agriculture and breeding tasks and promoting production capacity of small plot farmers, small and medium agriculture and livestock industries and cooperative tasks and established the rice mill not to waste the paddy.

He called for the locals to work together with government body and departments for the food sufficiency in the district and boosting productivity. Then, secretary of the Cooperative Ltd., spoke words of thanks and the State Chief Minister and party observed the process of the rice mill.

The State Chief Minister and party then visited the view point of Putao cloud sea at the top of the NamHtumYaChat mountain, south-west of Putao, and coordinated the needs. At the LoneSut ward, the State Chief Minister and party observed demonstration of Sin Akari-3 paddy seed cultivation with seeder machine and the head of agriculture department explained the benefits of cultivation by using machine.

Later, the State Chief Minister provided cash assistance to farmers and staff of agriculture department. After that, the State Chief Minister and party arrived at Out San Gaung village where they met with members of the village cooperative society who conduct breeding task under the State Economic Promotion Fund.

At the meeting, the State Chief Minister said to conduct the breeding, 30 million kyats were provided for each village and it is necessary to breed qualified species, to apply systematic breeding system and have enough feed stuff. Next, official and town elders reported progress of works and requirements on which the State Chief Minister coordinated essentials.
