Collective Blood Donation: Blood Donation event to mark the World Blood Donor Day

In commemoration of the World Blood Donor Day which falls on June 14, staff from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and donors participated in the collective blood donation at the Blood Banks and General Hospitals of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Taninthayi and Magway Regions, Eastern and Southern Shan State on 16th of June.

Deputy Ministers U Aung Kyaw Tun and Brigadier-General Lu Mon visited the 1000-bedded Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital and encouraged the blood donors. A total of 505 donors from 8 Regions and States including 54 from Nay Pyi Taw donated blood.

At the donation ceremony, deputy Minister for Health Dr. Aye Htun, departmental heads, medical superintendent and officials inspected the donation of blood and provided food and medicines.

The Deputy Minister for Health also gave the certificates for donating blood. Myanma Posts and Telecommunications has been participating in the worldwide blood donation activities since 2016.

This is 11th times of organizing collective blood donation and over 10,000 blood bags have already been contributed for the emergency treatment.
