Mekong-Lancang Cooperation: Exchange of food production methods

Opening of the “Exchange of Food Production Methods between Mekong Countries” event with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2020) was held with the hybrid mode at the Department of the Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Yangon.

In his opening speech, Secretary of the Central Committee for Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Union Minister for Industry  Dr. Charlie Than said that under the Mekong-Lancang cooperation, the "Lancang -Mekong River Basin Countries Exchange Program for Improving the Value and Productivity of Agricultural Products and Productivity Using Innovative Technology" is aimed at MSMEs, people, entrepreneurs, governmental officials, researchers and technicians.

They will have the technology and knowledge for the production of innovative products. He added that MSMEs are being encouraged and supported to produce more exports and earn foreign currency on the development path of the country to the production of import substitution products and promotion of local products.

This event is also joined by Director General of the Department of the Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and responsible persons, experts from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and China via online. 30 professors of the Mekong-Lancang countires and  experts in food production will conduct technology exchange virtually for 6 days from 12th to 14th June and from 23rd to 25th June in 2023.
