Marine Products Industry: Union Minister makes inspections in Yangon

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung on Sunday made inspections in Yangon.

First, the Union Minister inspected the Department of Fisheries in Thaketa Township and heard report on receipt of the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 17025 certification for the seventh time, recommendations of the GACC of the People's Republic of China, Microbiological laboratory activities, activities of the central laboratory and laboratories in regions and states, monthly inspections of fish and shrimp processing and cold storage facilities and plans of the Department.

And, the Union Minister stressed that it is necessary to carry out systematic and strict measures to ensure compliance with product standards and quality for export and that chemical residues and disease-causing materials are to be monitored.

He also called on laboratory professionals to increase their understanding of internationally recognized good methods and increase the study of laboratory techniques, and to train the young generation of professionals.

The Union Minister continued his inspection trip to the Thaketa Crocodile Farm, heard report on matters including breeding process, water quality inspection and activities of Freshwater Research Department and gave necessary instructions.
