





Union Minister for agriculture, livestock and irrigation U Min Naung inspected the agricultural products laboratory on 9th of June in Insein Township of Yangon Region.
During the inspection, the Union Minister heard report on the activities of testing pesticide residues, toxic metals and mushroom poison.
And, the Union minister stressed that food safety is not only for domestic consumers to live healthy but also directly linked to the value of exports and obtaining foreign market guarantees, along with the attempts for food surplus.
Laboratories are going to be upgraded with modern technologies to meet with the set standard to produce nutritious and safe food products. He also called for efforts to turn out more experts in the agriculture, livestock and irrigation sector.
On the same day, the union minister visited the Animal Foods and Medicines Quality Inspection Division and inspected the animals food value, medicines, treatment, vitamin and minerals, pesticide, experiment of mushroom preventive drugs , laboratory test and local and foreign animals disease preventive medicines.
Officials of the livestock breeding and veterinary department clarified about the procedures. There, the union minister said that the state is making efforts in various sectors to increase the livestock sector, as the experts need to make efforts for development of mordern technologies and research development.
He also called on the officials to work in collaboration with relevent departments to develop the production of food free from chemical residues and to disseminate the strategies to the private livestock entrepreneurs and livestock farmers.
