According to the research on Myanmar marine resource, it’s learnt that about 80% of above-water fish and 60% of under-water fish are decreasing comparing to the last 1979s-1980s.

To increase marine resources, setting no fishing season in all regions and states, monitoring and controlling of fishing vessels through vessel monitoring system, implementing research works, 6 fishing areas of LamPi Island in Thaninthayi region will be set as fish conservation zone and forbidding fishing area.

Besides, measures are being undertaken to provide services and produce products on beaches, mangrove forests, ecosystem, coral reefs, sea grass, islands and oceans which exist along Myanma’s costal.

At present, the natural areas will be researched systematically to conserve biodiversity and educative talks will be organized in all regions and states with the aim to prevent illegal fishing and to preserve coastal ecosystem.
