Vocational Training: Aiming to improve socio-economic life of people

The Small Scale IndustriesDepartment (SSID) (Yangon NorthDistrict) under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development conducted a technical training course for value-added consumer goods for the residents in Oakkan Township with free of charge.

During the training period, making various kinds of hand wash, shampoos, soaps and hand sanitizersis conducted aiming to develop local MSME enterprise and create job opportunities for locals.

Assistant Director, Ye ZawTun, SSID (Yangon NorthDistrict), said " We are conducting this training course with the aim to development of local MSME sector and socio-economic life of the people and increasing family income. During the training period, knowledge about certification trademarks and laws of our department will be shared. Especially, we will conduct product indications, advantages and disadvantages systematically. Furthermore, packaging, business management skills and distribution to the market will be taught."

According to the official, plans are underway to develop small scale industries and generate family income projects in 2023-2024 Fiscal Year. In line with the project, the department will conduct training courses in the future. After the trainings, 5 outstanding trainees from each course will be chosen and the department will provide them until they can run their own businesses. 

Trainee, May Thingyan, said " The reason I joined this training is I want to make hand wash liquid by myself. I will attend this course until completion and I will learn carefully what the trainers teach. I have an idea to run my own business at home by applying the knowledge from this training."

Trainee, May Myat Thu, said " In Handwash liquid and soaps which we are always using, there are some chemical ingredients, causing allergic. So, this training course teaches us the processes of making safety products systematically and I’d like to say thanks to related officials for opening the course."

The training course will last 5-day and it will conduct 30 % theoretically and 70% practically.
