Translation of laws: Legal Translation Commission held 13th meeting

The 13th Meeting of Working Committees and Working Groups of the Legal Translation Commission was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 9:00am, in the morning on June 5. During the meeting.

Dr. Thida Oo, Chairperson of the Legal Translation Commission, said that this meeting was the sixth meeting during her tenure as the Chairperson of the Commission; and five laws were translated and published as legal translation books Nos. (9, 10, and 11) during this period.

Moreover, the Penal Code was published in Myanmut Version and in both Myanmar and English Versions and The Trusts Act would be republished soon as book No. (12). The commission has translated and approved 32 laws of 81 assigned to it to translate.

The Code of Criminal Procedure, The Code of Civil Procedure and The Evidence Act which are crucial and being exercised as the laws of procedures in the practical work field will be carried out to discuss and approve the translation of those laws in Myanmar.

In this meeting, the 8 laws including The Destruction of Records Act, The State Grants Act, The Explosive Substances Act, The Bankers’ Books Evidence Act, The Mussalman Wakf Validating Act, The Hindu Law of Inheritance Amendment Act, The Hindu Gains of Learning Act and The Unlawful Associations Act are going to be discussd and approved and the necessary suggestions are needed to give for the correct and exact translations.

The members of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committees and Working Groups attended the meeting and the duration of the meeting would be for three days.
