World Environmental Day: SAC Chairman delivered a commemorating speech

The Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min AungHlaing delivered a commemorating speech on 2023 World environment Day celebrated at Myanmar International Convention Center-II, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on the 5th of June.

Also present at the occasion were the Council Joint-Secretary, Council members, Union Ministers, Union Level Officials, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) and officials.

In his speech, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister said the World Environment Day was designated on 5th of June during the UN General Assembly held in 1972.

It's been cerebrated in each country since 1973. it's reached to the 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee this year. This year's theme is "Solutions to Plastic Pollution".

It calls for global solutions to combat plastic pollution. It's time to transform into the Circular Economy which is with least waste and impact on the environment.

Next, the SAC Chairman clarified the negative effects of plastic pollution in detail. Bangkok Declaration On Combating Marine Debris and ASEAN Framework Of Action On Marine Debris were approved in 2019 and Myanmar participated in it and ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (2021 – 2025) is being implemented in collaboration with the other ASEAN member countries.

In section-45 and sub section (b) of Section-90 of State Constitution (2008), the Liability of the government and the citizen regarding with the conservation of natural environment are enacted.

As all people across the country are originally lovers of natural environment. So, it's urged to cooperate in the environmental conservation works of the government with the sense of obligation.

Next, the video messages of UN Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) were screened.

Then, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister awarded the township prize of excellent management on environment to the Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, village prize to MaYeOhnPinSu village of Mawlamyainggyun Township in Ayeyawady Region and the factory prize to Global Earth Seafood Processing Plant and Cold Storage Facility Global Earth ARGO and AQUA Industry Public Company Limited.

The Council Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Council member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo, Council member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Council member Union Minister Lt-Gen Soe Htut awarded the prizes of national level clean and green school, article and essay context winners.

Next, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister posed for documentary photo together with the attendees. Afterward, the SAC Chairman and attendees observed the exhibition booths displayed in commemorating 2023 World Environment Day.
