Hotel & Tourism Industry Devt.: Meeting with Hotelier Associations and staffs

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Aung Thaw together with Rakhine State Economic Affairs Minister U San Shwe Maung inspected the office buildings and staffs housing damaged by Cyclone MOCHA at the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in Sittwe on Monday, met the staffs and called for carrying out office works with added momentum and presented cash assistance.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party visited Hotel Memory in Sittwe and met with officials from department and hotels and tourism industry.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the hotels and guesthouse building were damaged by Cyclonic storm and all need to cooperate to restore them into normal condition.

The Ministry is developing and implementing a strategy to revitalize the hotels and tourism industry and promoting the business to attract more local and foreign visitors.

The private business owners must prepare to be ready for tourist arrivals, must create the short films featuring ancient cultural heritage and destinations like Mrauk U for tourist attraction and to increase income for tourism industry.

He also stressed that Rakhine State have many travel destinations and local people need to make efforts to develop their state, the travel agencies play an important role and the ministry will carry out for the development of hotel and tourism sector in the State and local people and private businesses need to cooperate.

Rakhine State Economic Affairs Minister U San Shwe Maung discussed matters on operations of hotels and tourism in Rakhine State, arrangements for tourist arrivals and destination areas, and promoting advertisements.

And, concerned officials reported related measures and Union Minister gave necessary instructions. Then, the Union Minister and party viewed round renovation of hotel buildings damaged by Cyclone MOCHA and operations of hotels industry in Sittwe.
