





Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn on Friday visited the Alotawpyae monastery in Tamwe Township in Yangon, and paid homage to Alotawpyae Sayadaw Agga Maha Sadamma Jawtikadaza Dr Baddanta Ariyarvonsa.
The Union Minister then submitted the religious matters including the rehabilitation tasks at the Mocha storm-hit areas and donated the cash.
Next, the Union Minister proceeded to Printing and Publishing Department in Botataung Township and met with the literati of National Literary Award and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award selection committees.
The Union Minister discussed that progress has been made for selection process of National Literary Award and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award for 2022. He stressed the need to make thorough scrutinizing for the books that have been published in 2022.
He added that the Prime Minister is paying special attention for development of literature, and plans are underway to organize Pakkoku U Ohn Pe Literary Award Presenting Ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw.
He urged all the literati to strive for the development of Literature and youth sector in order to promote Myanmar literature in line with the changing trend of age.
Then the Director General of the Printing and Publishing Department reported on the status of selection the literary awards.
Afterwards, the chairmen of the award selection committees and attendees discussed the process for selecting awards.
The meeting was concluded after the closing remark by the Union Minister.
In the evening, the Union Minister enjoyed the Charity Concert at the National Theatre (Yangon) which is being organized for providing assistance to the areas affected by Cyclone MOCHA.
