Efforts for Power Supply: Restoration works of damaged infrastructures

Due to the cyclonic storm Mocha, many infrastructures for power supply have been damaged in Rakhine State. The Ministry of Electric Power is carrying out the repairing works for damaged facilities for resuming power supply in the areas.

In Ponnagyun Township, restoration works for the 230 KV power station has completed 90%. 576 engineers and technicians under the Ministry are taking part in the repairing works that started since 15th May. The restoration works included replacement and repair of the control room, switch yard, staff housings and tower and it related equipment.

The powerful storm left damages to tower Nos.424 and 425 and the lamp posts along Ann-Mrauk U- Ponnagyun power grid. Moreover, 106 lamp posts were collapsed along Ponnagyun-Sittwe 66 KV No. 1 Power Grid. It is learnt that, priorities have been made for repairing damaged lamp posts.
