




A ceremony to donate cash assistance to provide relief and rehabilitation measures in the affected areas of Cyclone Mocha was held at Zeyarthiri Beikman in Yangon Region Command on Saturday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and made a speech. He expressed thanks for contribution to the relief and rehabilitation measures.
He added that as of May 19, a total of 145 people died due to the cyclone, along with the damages of more than 180,000 houses, 1,711 religious edifices, 59 monasteries, 1,397 schools, 227 hospitals and clinics, 11 communication towers, 119 lamp posts, 5 transformers, 1 market, Sittwe and Kyauk Phyu Airports and 340 departmental buildings.
He expressed that about 20 billion cash donations have been received so far, and reiterated his appreciations to the donors for their generous contribution during the time of emergency.
The Prime Minister later presented the certificates of honour to the donors who contributed on May 15th. He then accepted the donation of cash assistance by the donors for rehabilitation works in the cyclone affected areas.
The Prime Minister later said that the relief supplies have been provided by India and China. Likewise, more assistance will be arrived on Monday from Thailand. The AHA Center and other international communities also notified to send relief items.
He stressed that the donated cash and kinds will be provided to the affected victims without lacking any individual. The Prime Minister later viewed the documentary photos of rehabilitation measures in the affected areas of cyclone Mocha.
Today’s donation included over 8.7 billion kyats, 1 million Thai Bahts, construction materials and foodstuff.
