






Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Tuesday addressed a meeting on the effects of natural disasters in Nyaung-U District.
In this meeting at the Bagan Archaeological Museum, the Senior General heard reports on matters including state of annual precipitation in the district, status of water inflow into dams and embankments, search and rescue materials in case of natural disaster, damage caused by natural disasters, damage at some ancient pagodas and buildings due to heavy rain, pumping back the water that entered the pagodas, tower collapse, Town Plan to improve water flows in Bagan area and plans to repair and maintain the damaged ancient pagodas.
In his response, the Senior General said that there was a lot of rain in Bagan area due to the storm. It is necessary to prepare in advance to minimize damage due to disasters and to carry out systematic repair and maintenance.
It is also necessary to regulate the land levels in the area and construct water outlets systematically, to systematically calculate the water extraction system to ensure that other areas are not affected, to conduct a survey about the land in the area and to clear the dangerous old trees and plant young ones. He also called for efforts for a systematic tourism system. There is a need to ensure that ancient artefacts are not lost due to tourism activities and to preserve valuable ancient works of art.
