To smooth the medical checkup procedures for the workers who are going to work legally in Malaysia and Thailand, Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation-MOEAF signed a MOU with Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) and the department of employment (DoE).

According to the MOU, there are eight medical centers in Yangon recognized by FWCMS approved by the Malaysia and DoE approved by the Thailand. They are Aya Medical Centre, Elotus Medical Laboratory & Diagnostics, HtetMarn Diagnostics & Specialist Clinic, Konbaung Health Centre, Lamin Medical Clinics, Moe Thee General Hospital, Sabaidee Special Clinic and Shwe Bon San Medical Centre.

As a result, the workers who will legally go to these two countries will be probably prevented from the exploitation of brokers, cheating by using overseas employment agencies, and human trafficking.A memorandum of understanding has been signed for the convenience of the works and the countries will be accepted the workers if they had the approval forms from the designated hospitals and clinics.

Sometimes workers pass the medical test here but fail at the other countries. Sometimes brokers asked for a lot of money to do medical tests on their behalf. So, they sign the MOU with hospitals and clinics to solve such kinds of problems, said an official from the MOEAF. There are over 300 member’s agencies at MOEF. The member’s agencies should arouse the workers to undergo medical examinations at the designated hospitals and clinics.
