Wildfires in Alberta trigger emergency declaration

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith declared a provincial state of emergency in Alberta, Canada on Saturday after reviewing the state of the wildfires throughout the province. The emergency declaration will help access emergency funds and mobilize resources from outside of the province.Trucks and helicopters were deployed to areas such as Drayton Valley that is roughly 83 miles west of Edmonton.

More than 24,000 residents across the province have been forced to evacuate due to a mandatory order.As of Sunday morning, 33 of the 109 wildfires are considered out of control by the Alberta Wildfire Status Dashboard.
