COVID-19 Meeting: Control & Emergency Response Committee holds meeting

The COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee held its 7th work coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. Chairman of the Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win discussed that the infection rate of COVID-19 gradually increases in Myanmar since the 1stof April and after the Thingyan period.

The spread of Omicron sub variant is found in Yangon Region and 2 patients died due to the disease. According to the reports, the new Omicron sub variant is not as severe as previous variants, the sub variant Arcturus can cause itchy eyes and ears. He also urged attendees to speed up prevention and control activities and continue vaccination campaign. And, Union Minister for Health Dr. ThetKhine Win clarified the preventive measures and future plans with the power point presentation.

Also, the other concerned officials discussed the related measures on COVID-19 including the public awareness, preventive measures and health screening at the border check-points, vaccination process, production of oxygen, and preparations for treatment and quarantine facilities. In his response, the Deputy Prime Minister said the Yangon Region has the highest rate of infection with 539 patients within one month followed by Kayin State with 96 patients.

It is necessary to carry out the systematic control measures to reduce the infection rate and need to test those who enter through the border gates and those who tests positive for the COVID infection need to be sent to the quarantine centers.
