Plume of black smoke rises over Sudan capital

A plume of black smoke rose over Sudan's capital on Monday, even as rival forces extended their humanitarian ceasefire. Sudan’s army and its rival, the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group, on Sunday said they would extend a truce another 72 hours as of midnight.

The decision followed international pressure to allow the safe passage of civilians and aid.But is also came after days of continued fighting despite the earlier truce. In statements on Sunday, both sides accused the other of violations.
