Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 26 April, 200 submersible pumps were confiscated from a container at the Asia World Port container checkpoint.

On 27 April, 4,700 kilogrammes (kg) of mouse traps from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint, nine kinds of goods including 16 Chaeum Premium 3 syringe fillers from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and 900 kg of KNK brand new truck car spare parts from a Nissan Diesel truck at the Yepu permanent checkpoint were nabbed. 240 pairs of INDUS lady slippers at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe, two kinds of goods including 10 cartons of Trane diesel engine oil from a vehicle at Kengtung (tollgate) were captured. A total of 6.731 tonnes of illegal timbers was confiscated at the Kyweyel combined checkpoint in Monywa Township.

On 28 April, a total of 0.772 tonne of illegal hardwoods and 1.162 tonnes of illegal other timbers was seized in Thayawady district and an unregistered Nissan Wingroad vehicle was captured on Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Toungoo township.

Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of 83.683 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 26 to 28 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
