






Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko attended the meeting on establishment of Alliance for the Protection of Asian Cultural Heritage, which held from 24th to 25th April at the China's ancient city of Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province.
The Union Minister was welcomed by the officials from the Embassy of People’s Republic of China and the officials concerned from the Ministry at the Yangon International Airport in the afternoon on 26th April.
At the meeting, Myanmar becomes a member country of Alliance for the Protection of Asian Cultural Heritage together with the Sri Lanka and Azerbaijan according to the arrangement of 10 original member countries.
Moreover, observer countries of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of Singapore, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan and Socialist Republic of Vietnam also attended the meeting.
The Union Minister delivered a speech as the new member country and also as the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture of the member country.
At the ceremony, the attended member countries approved the draft charter of the Alliance for the Protection of Asian Cultural Heritage, discussed the work process of 2023-2024, selecting general secretary of for the Alliance and approved the Xi'an communiqué.
During the trip, the Union Minister U Ko Ko also met with the Minister and Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism of PRC and discussed the collaborating culture and archeological research between the two countries.
And then, he also met State Councillor H.E Shen Yiqin, officials from Archeological heritage bureau, party Secretary of Shaanxi Province, Administers, and the officials from the Department of Culture and Tourism (Yunan) and made discussion.
