World IP Day 2023: SAC member DPM gave an opening remark

A Grand Opening of accepting the registration of trade mark officials and the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day was held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on April 26 and the Chairman of Intellectual Property Central Committee Member of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Defense General Mya Tun Oo delivered a remark.

In his remark, the chairman of central committee said after becoming a member of World Trade Organization-WTO and World Intellectual Property Organization-WIPO, the country comes to require to set up a international standard intellectual property system, four intellectual property laws were enacted in 2019.

Among them, Trademark Law has entered into force on 1st April, 2023. As the official accepting of Trade Mark registration will be commenced on 26th April, today is a historic day which starts the local and international trade mark registration under the Trade Mark Law in the property right history of Myanmar.As Todayisthe World IP Day, the commemorative ceremonies are being held in the member countries of WIPO.

Since the motto of World IP Day 2023 is“Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”, it’s a year recognized the women who participate in IP sector and innovative sector.

In the celebration, the roundtable discussion concerning the motto of World IP Day 2023 and the one to discuss the knowledge on the trade mark and intellectual property have been arranged to include, the knowledge on the IP knowledge through those roundtable discussions etc.

Next, vice chairman of central committee Union Minister for Commerce gave a remark and the Video Message sent by the Director General of WIPO for World IP Day 2023 was screen.Then, the chairman of central committee opened the commencing acceptance of trade mark registration by pressing auto button.

Next, the documentary video on the activities of IP Department was shown and the central committee chairman, vice chairman, deputy minister and director general presented Medal of Honor and certificate of honor to the prize winners of poem, poster, cartoon and article contest organized in commemoration of World IP Day.

Then, the singers entertained with the songs honored the World IP Day.Next, the central committee chairman, union ministers, deputy ministers and officials posed for documentary photo together with the prize winners.

Afterward, the central committee chairman and party viewed the display of photo, poem, poster, cartoon, article and the regional indicating activities of IP Department, four IP laws and others.

After conducting the roundtable discussions of the groups, the ceremony was concluded.
