Luyechun Program: SAC Chairman meets outstanding students

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met the outstanding Luyechun students for 2022-2023 academic year at Myanmar International Convention Center II in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said the Luyechun Program is implemented with the aims to emerge the outstanding students with physically healthy and good morale, to turn out the good citizens who could participate in national building endeavours with the interest of education promotion activities and to nurture the student youths with the exemplary of the outstanding Luyechuns.

The program has been suspended temporarily since 2019-2020 due to COVID-19 infection, and resumed in 2022-2023 academic year. A total of 478 outstanding Luyechuns have been emerged in this academic year, and they will be sent excursion tour to Bagan, Taunggyi and Ngwe Hsaung. Through this program, the student youths can exchange the regional knowledge among others while promoting friendship, cooperation and nationalistic fervour.

The Prime Minister added that the government is also implementing to send the outstanding students to pursue further studies under the scholarship program in foreign countries. He urged all to make concerted efforts to be excelled in their academic subject.

The Prime Minister also wished all the outstanding students to take part in the excursion trip healthily and happily. One of the outstanding students expressed words of thanks. Initiated in 1964, the Luyechun Program had been implemented till 1988.

After temporary suspension, the program was resumed in 2013 under the Versatile Student Program. It was renamed again as Luyechun Program in 2018, and it will turn 60 years anniversary in the coming year.
