Trademarks register: MoC accepted the application to register

Trademark Law, Industrial Design Law, Copyright Law and Patent / Utility Model Law enacted in 2019 in Myanmar. In these laws, Trademark Law entered into force on 1st April in2023. The people can exchange the old registration into new one in person at the Myanmar Intellectual Property Department (IPD) of the Ministry of Commerce as of 3rd April.

Dr. Moe Moe Thwe (DG), IPD, Ministry of Commerce said "World Intellectual property day falls today (26thApril). In this day, the Ministry of Commerce accepts the registration of trade mark legally.After the Ministry of Commerce issued its Notification No. 62/ 2020, we carried out the process in two phases. As the first phase, the old registration was permitted to re-register via online system by the agent. After the law entered into force, the trademark owners can apply in person at the Intellectual Property Department under the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay as of 3rd April."

When it comes to submit the copyright, copyright holders (trademark owner) can learn the information at www.ipd.gov.mm and get the necessary information.
