





Myanmar is a country which cultivates and produces various beans and pulses. Since they gain the good demand annually, buyers and sellers are working hard at Bayintnaung warehouse and whole sale center in Yangon region.
At lower Myanmar, green grams and black grams are mainly cultivated and pigeon pea is in upper Myanmar.
Chairman, Bayintnaung Commodity Exchange Center, Dr. Myo Lwin said "The yielding ranges about 700,000 tons for black grams, about 500,000 tons for green grams and about 200,000 tons for pigeon pea. The other various beans are yielded also. I believe that this year produced beans and pulses will meet the standards of the past years as they the getting the good price. It fetches around 190,000 Kyats for a bag of pigeon pea and black grams this year. But green grams (Shwewah) got the highest price. "
He continued that Myanmar beans and pulses got much foreign interest as they are meeting the good quality with less chemical residues. That’s why, the export business is getting improved.
Black gram and pigeon pea are mainly exported to India and green grams to EU countries and China.
Counsellor, MPBSMA, Soe Win Maung said "The exports reach to the million tons. The number of foreign exports reached a record of 1.2 to 1.5 million tons when looking back at the past ten years. In 2020-21 fiscal year, we can see that it could export up to 2 millions tons. They are significantly increased."
It is learn that, when putting collaborative efforts between the departments and organizations, exports volumes and foreign market penetration will achieved more.
