Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, industrial materials, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 19 April, 4,000 kilogrammes of PVC Pipe, a Dong Feng Tractor Head and a trailer were seized at the 16th mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint in Mandalay Region. 500 kilogrammes of NK 6253 maize seeds were nabbed at Mae Yang combined checkpoint in Shan State.

On 20 April, 0.997 tonne of illegal timber and a Toyota Alphard, 15.613 tonnes of illegal timbers and a Nissan Diesel Truck were seized in Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region.  On 21 April, 820 iron cupboards were confiscated at Asia World Container Checkpoint. 46.28 tonnes of illegal timber were nabbed in Thayawady District, Bago Region and 4.34 tonnes of illegal teak were seized at Katalu combined checkpoint in Sagaing.

On 22 April, a Toyota Alphard without licence was nabbed near the Tamatan traffic lights in Monywa and New Royal 125 motorcycle without licence was seized at Kalay Township. And 5.487 tonnes of illegal timbers were confiscated in Toungoo District, Bago Region.

Therefore, 13 arrests at an estimated value of 242.694 Kyatss were made from 19 to 22 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
