Labour Affairs: Union Minister makes inspections in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Labour Dr. Pwint San on Thursday made inspections in Mandalay Region.

First, the Union Minister visited the Mandalay Region’s Department of Labour in Aungmyaythazan Township, inspected employment contract signing for sending workers to foreign countries and gave necessary instructions.

At the Workers’ Hospital, the Union Minister held talks with concerned officials on social security plan trusted by employers and insured workers, expansion of the health care of insured workers and provision of quality health services.

At the city hall in Chanayethazan Township, the Union Minister attended a workshop on work safety and health to mark the Labour Day which was also attended by employers and employees.

In his address at the workshop, the Union Minister stressed that cooperation of all stakeholders is very important for creating safe and healthy workplaces. The Ministry is cooperating with regional and international organizations to improve work safety and health sector.

Also, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung said that improving the workplace safety and health system can reduce injuries, deaths and disease in the workplace and also improve productivity. It’s learnt that the Ministry of Labor has also been making inspections to ensure that workplaces are safe and healthy and noise and light levels of factories are within specified standards.
