Home for the Aged: Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home for those aged 75 and above

Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home was established for old people in Taung Dwin Gyi Township of Magway region on 16th June in 2013. At present, Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home is taking care of 4 grandfathers and 11 grandmothers aged 75 and above by providing health care services and meals daily. 

Baddanta Manita, Ngat Pyit Taung Sayadaw said “There was no Nursing Home in Taung Dwin Gyi before. So, I have got an idea to establish Nursing Home and discussed with the related departmental officials and donors. The implementation for providing shelters for the old people is successful with the help of donors and related departmental officials.”

There are 7 buildings in Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home including dining and meditation buildings. 

Chairman, Thar Hla, Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home said “For the health care services, doctors form Taung Dwin Gyi who are familiar with the Sayadaw come to provide health care services once a month. Everything is smooth here because we implement the works processes by following the instruction of Sayadaw.”

Mya Chit said “Everything is okay here and doctors come regularly for our health. Besides, they take care of those who have some health problem.”

Ngat Pyit Taung Nursing Home is located in Maung Taing 2 ward of Taung Dwin Gyi Township and those who want to take shelter there need approval letters from the ward administration office and the family. It is also reported that everyone aged 75 and above can live there regardless race or religion.
