Tourism Industry: CBT project underway in 2 villages of Shan State

Regarding the Tourism Industry in Myanmar, various national races live in Shan State which has the most popular tourist destinations attracting local and foreign tourists.

At present, a community based tourism project is underway in two villages of Shan State while the plan is destined for 8 villages. Those two villages are Akha Village in Kengtung Township area where the Akha ethnic people live and Pinsai Village where Wa ethnic people live.

The Community Based Tourism (CBT) project is being implemented there to ensure tourists study the ethnic local peoples’ culture and traditions.The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has been giving the tourism-related training courses for locals to get familiar with the tourism industry. The implementation of Community Based Tourism can create jobs for locals and there will be more destinations for tourists to study the ethnic local peoples’ culture and traditions.
