Rakhine Thingyan: Chief Minister visits incense-grinding ceremony

Rakhine Region Government organized the Rakhine Traditional Incense-Grinding Ceremony in the 1384 ME Maha Thingyan in Sittwe on Thursday. Chief Minister U Htain Lin, Commander of the Western Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo and many other officials opened the ceremony by cutting ribbons.

And, the Rakhine State Cultural Troupe preformed traditional oil-lamp dance and 18 Incense-Grinding teams made introduction. In his address, the Chief Minister stressed that the Incense-Grinding Ceremony is held only in Rakhine State and urged all to preserve this unique tradition.

And, the Chief Minister viewed the incense-grinding event and cash awards were presented to the Yein troupes and Incense-Grinding teams. And, the Chief Minister and party paid homage to the Atu La MarazeinPyi Lon Chantha Pagoda and the Buddha statues there are washed with scented water from the Incense-Grinding Ceremony. Also, the Chief Minister and party visited the Home for the Aged.
