






Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the members of film and video censorship board at the meeting hall of the Information and Public Relations Department in Bahan Township of Yangon Region on Friday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the artists who originally created and produced films and videos need to be cautious and careful. Members of the Censorship Board also need to properly review and evaluate them in order to present the video and films to the public in a non-toxic way.
In addition, based on the film laws, television and video legislation, the censorship process has been carried out in accordance with 6 rules of politics, religions, ethnic friendship, traditional customs, act of brutality and sexual incitement. During the 4 months period, it was found that the censorship board has screened 20 Myanmar movies story lines, 9 Myanmar films,38 foreign films,10 Myanmar videos, 1 karaoke story, 776 foreign films with Myanmar subtitles, 57 foreign series with Myanmar subtitles and voice over, 35 Myanmar TV series, 23Documentary, 5 Myanmar TV films for a total duration of about 3,075 hours.
The Union Minister expressed words of thanks to all members of censorship board who are supporting for the development and long-term sustainability of film industry with intellectual and physical power. The attendees later made general round of discussion on the film and video censorship and the Union Minister coordinated the needs.
