New Year Celebration: Shwe Dagon Pagoda Board of Trustee to organize

With the aims at hoping not to fall the impending dangers on all living beings across Myanmar as well as in whole world and preserving Myanmar traditions and customs, Myanmar New Year Day celebration will be organized by Pagoda Board of Trustees at the Shwe Dagon Pagoda in Yangon.

On the Myanmar New Year Day, which is one of the days of religious and cultural significance, people across the country use to perform meritorious deeds and hold New Year celebration as the special occasion.

Member of Pagoda Board of Trustees, Shwe Dagon Pagoda, Thein Htut Maung said "Myanmar New Year Day which will fall on the first day of 1385 Myanmar Era, will be celebrated organizing by the Pagoda Board of Trustee consisting of members of board of trustees, pagoda office staffs and pagoda Wutt associations. And, religious Suttas and verses have been reciting by 3 Wut associations of 30 people per day for 10 days from 25th March to 4th April. Preparations are underway to offer dawn alms to Pagoda and Ovadacariya Saydaws and provide donation items on the New Year’s day. On this day, Paritta suttas recited by the members of Sangha will be taken."

The Shwedagon pagoda is a Buddhist reliquary stupa that is believed to enshrine relics not only of the Gautama buddha, but also sacred relics of three previous Buddhas. Being the golden charm of the country and the historical record of the Buddhists, Shwedagon Pagoda is one of Yangon’s landmarks.

The pilgrims and devotees can participate in this new year celebration happily while worshipping the Shwe dagon pagoda.
