




Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the Karbala Oil Refinery on Saturday. The newly opened refinery was built by Korean company Hyundai. It has a capacity of 140,000 barrels per day. According to a statement by the Iraqi prime minister’s office, the refinery has 33 operational, service and storage units with large production capacities.
It also has integrated terminals and a station to pump oil derivatives and petroleum products to external terminals. The facility also has a power plant with a capacity of 200 MW provided by four units, each of which operates with a capacity of 50 MW to provide the refinery with electricity.
