Harris departs Zambia, ending weeklong visit to Africa

U.S. Vice President Kamla Harris and Second Gentleman, Doug Emhof departed Zambia after completing a weeklong visit to Africa intended to deepen U.S. relationships amid global competition over the continent’s future.

Greeted by Zambia’s Vice President, Harris departed from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport after her visit was much treated as a homecoming. Although her historic status has led to the twin burdens of extreme scrutiny and extraordinary expectations in Washington, it has been a source of inspiration and excitement over the past week.
