Training underway: Athletes are trained for the 12th ASEAN Para Games

The athletes from the Myanmar Paralympic Swimming Teamare under training at the swimming pool of the Myanmar Paralympics Sport Federation in Dagon Myothit (North) Township to participate in the 12th ASEAN Para Games .

The 12th ASEAN Para Games will be held from 3rdto 9thJune 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A total of 15 swimming athletes -5 selected athletes and 10 new athletes from Myanmar Paralympic Swimming Teamare being trained with 3 coaches.

Mya Khine, Head Coach, Myanmar Paralympic Swimming Team, said " In the 11th ASEAN Para Games, our swimming team competed with 7 athletesas the country representative. We nabbed 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. This year, we will increase the number of athletes in addition to selected athletes.  We expect to get more gold medals than previous year. We have enough time to practice than last year and all athletes are energetic. They are ready to compete in the games with strong confidence. We see a lot of improvement than previous years. We will have to compete with Viet Nam, Indonesia, Malaysia,Thailand the Philippines."

Paralympic athletes are being trained daily twice a day from 6 to 9:00 am and 4 to 6:00 PM and six days for a week.

Athlete, Kyaw Htoo, said " The coaches give us training to the best. We prepare our best to get more achievement. We will do the best to grab the gold prize. Our coaches teach us to be strong physically and mentally."

Myanmar para athletes are conducting training the best to bring prestige to the country. The ASEAN Para Games is held every two years for the disable athletes, and the first ASEAN Para Games was held in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia in 2001.
