Ecuadorians on Sunday were mourning the deaths of three women who were crushed in their home following the powerful earthquake with about 6.8 magnitudes, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Two children, relatives of the women, who also died, were taken for burial in another area of Machala. The earthquake killed at least 15 people and brought down homes and buildings in vastly different communities, from coastal areas to the highlands. By Sunday, the number of people injured in Ecuador was reported to be at least 446. The earthquake centered just off the Pacific Coast, about 80 kilometers south of Guayaquil, Ecuador’s second-largest city.
