Iraqi FM visits the EU in Brussels

The European Union's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said he hoped Iraq and the bloc would build on their "solid partnership" as he hosted the Iraqi foreign minister in Brussels on Sunday.

Borrell was set to hold talks with Iraq's Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, in the Belgian capital, with plans to discuss a wide range of issues from economic cooperation to migration. During a briefing before the meeting, Borrell said the EU's relations with Iraq were a "powerful driver for prosperity" in the country. He also praised Iraqi authorities for their work in helping boost relations in the region, including hosting talks to help reestablish relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
