River Bank Retaining Works: MoTC Union Minister inspected the worksites

Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and the Ayayawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win inspected river bank retaining works to protect Htupayon pagoda from bank erosion in Lay MyetHna Township of Ayeyawady Region in the afternoon on March 19.

First, the region head officer of the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems (DWIR) clarified the works of Geo Bag in the water and the status of Cross Section, the long term plan for the protection of Satumukha Htupayon pagoda from bank erosion, dredging works at the opposite bank from the pagoda, sites to be constructed bank retaining walls at the banks up and downstream from the pagoda, dredging works to be carried out at the downstream from the pagoda and the prospective waterway after the works planned.

The bank retaining works is being carried out by PKSY Company after winning the tender with the expenditure of 441 million Kyats.After inspecting and giving necessary instructions for the bank retaining works, the Union Minister paid homage to the ancient historic Satumukha Htupayon pagoda and the Tooth Relic pagoda, offered cash donation, took sermon delivered by the presiding Sayadaw of Lay MyetHna Township Parahita monastery, it’s learnt.
