British Home Secretary Suella Braverman arrived Saturday in Kigali for a two-day visit to Rwanda to accelerate the implementation of a controversial deal to send migrants arriving by boat in the UK on a one-way trip to the East African country.
During her trip, Braverman is due to meet President Paul Kagame and her counterpart. This week Britain has also unveiled the Illegal Migration Bill which calls for people arriving by unauthorized routes to be detained, deported to their homeland or a safe third country and banned from re-entering the UK. Britain receives fewer asylum-seekers than some European nations such as Italy, Germany or France.
