Biden, McCarthy honor St. Patrick’s Day with Irish PM

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar visited the U.S. Capitol Friday for a St. Patrick's Day luncheon with President Joe Biden and congressional leaders, hosted by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The Prime Minister is visiting Washington and the White House for the St. Patrick's Day holiday after the COVID-19 pandemic scuttled the longstanding tradition two years in a row.

In remarks at the luncheon, Biden and McCarthy touted their Irish heritage. The Prime Minister and his partner attended a breakfast with Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband at the Vice President’s home. Biden was to host a reception for the Prime Minister later Friday at the White House.
