Tourism Industry: Implementation of new tourist destinations in Pyay

Regarding the tourism industry, located at the east bank of the Ayeyawaddy River, Pyay Township is one of the focal townships of Bago Region. To develop the tourism industry in Pyay, implementations are underway to develop new tourist destinations near the Pyu Ancient City of Sri Ksetra which is designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is one of the places which can attract both local and foreign visitors with its ancient works of art and culture.

Aung Phyo, Head, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism (Bago) said "Pyay is one of the landmarks of Bago Region and the Pyu Ancient City of Sri Ksetra is famous for being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So, based on this ancient city, we are implementing to develop new destinations including Akauk Taung river trip which is being now updated to develop the tourism sector. We are also distributing this information in cooperation with the private sector to attract more visitors. "

Pyay is full of historical and cultural heritage sites like Shwe San Taw Pagoda, historic Phoe Oo Taung Pagoda, Shwe Bon Thar Muni Pagoda and Shwe Myat Mhan Pagoda. Visitors can also have a chance to try the taste of famous traditional foods. Pyay is full with lots of destination resources for those who want to explore the ancient works of art and for relaxation.
