St. Patrick's Day celebrated in New York City

Americans in New York City take part in annual St. Patrick's Day parades filled with bagpipes, music and colorful costumes.

The annual parade which bills itself as the world’s largest and oldest drew throngs to Fifth Avenue to await bagpipes and bands, and give homage to Ireland’s patron saint. The White House fountain in the US capital Washington, DC is turned green in celebration of the Irish holiday.Irish immigrants have a deep history in helping New York City become what it is today.
