Farmland Management: Union Minister addresses work coordination meeting 9/2023

The Central Farmland Management Committee held its work coordination meeting 9/2023 on Thursday with the attendance of Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and Chairman of the Committee U Min Naung, Deputy Minister and officials.

During the meeting at the Ministry, the Union Minister called for compensation in respective fiscal year as much as quickly to owners of farmlands which are used for the benefits of country and efforts for food sufficiency of the country without allowing current running farmlands for other usages.

Compensation must be based only the value of crops. After compensation, related departments need to work for ownership of farmlands to prevent farmland ownership problems, the Union Minister added. It’s learnt that those who have been permitted to utilize farmlands in other ways have to begin their businesses during 6 months – otherwise, the permit will be canceled according to the farmland law.
