Plane lands on Pilot lands plane on iconic Dubai hotel in world first

Poland's air racing champion Luke Czepiela lands a fixed-wing aircraft, 212 meters above the ground, on the helipad of Dubai's 56-storey iconic Burj al-Arab hotel, becoming the first person in history to do so.

Luke Czepiela, air racing champion said "This is not an easy task. In a normal landing with the airplane, you'll have all the references, and here we are coming [from] 200 meters to 200 meters to the zero then break. So this is really, really difficult." Czepiela had been preparing for this historic moment since 2021, having completed 650 test landings at ground level in Poland, the US, and Dubai to build his confidence in landing on the helipad without any visual references.
